Great inexpensive setup for community theater
I’m the sound guy for a community theatre company in my town. We use about 30 mics, Shures and Sennheisers. Lately we’ve been doing productions in our studio theatre and main stage at the same time, so I need as many mics as I can get my hands on. Because of this I decided to buy an inexpensive 4 mic mobile rig to use/rent out. I decided to just try the lapel version of the 622 (I have 3 sets of the handhelds for my church that work and sound great). I figured since the handheld version worked great, these would at least be “fine”. Glad to say they were great! I bought 2 sets for the 4 mic rig and went ahead and bought $13 earworn mic elements for them. With a little EQ, they also sounded pretty good! One complaint I could give is that if someone yells, the mic distorts a tiny bit depending on the tone of voice. Its not distracting, but it’s just something I notice being a sound guy, so I would think a normal person wouldn’t notice it or care. All around I’m very happy with the setup. Instead of spending $1000-2000 on a 4 mic rig, the total amount I spent on the rig (two 622L and four $13 earworn elements) was $372 +tax. Very inexpensive and great quality, I will buy more in the future if I need more mics! As a side note: Each transmitter comes with a lavalier and (what I call) a “Britney Spears mic”. The lavalier mic is fine but I do not recommend the other mic. The “Britney Spears” mic annoyingly picks up medium heavy breath and loudly amplifies it. The ear worn element is only $13 to buy extra and it sounds great. So long story short - only use the lavalier or buy the $13 earworn mic, don’t use the “Britney Spears mic”.Dustin P. Good Value
I am "the sound guy" for our church. One of the saints purchased this set, and I let it set for a week. I was skeptical as I had never heard of the brand and the low price for a dual system made me even more so. I hooked them up and was amazed. Our song leader is now using the headset and the Shure M58 is now the backup. The clarity and easy setup are great. On first use during a live service they performed flawlessly. I am now considering another set or maybe some handheld units. I am impressed and recommend this set for anyone on a limited budget.Darrell fransen (16 Jan 2017, 18:56)
